The room, which once housed the critically lauded 42 Grams, retains a simple sophistication. Brass Heart’s kitchen may be open, but it’s out of view of the dining room (in contrast to 42 Grams, where chefs practically blew on your sunflower porridge for you). An actual brass heart hanging over the entrance gives way to metallic details and striking black-and-white photos of trending musicians like the Lemon Twigs. A hushed golden light imbues the 10 tables with an elegant glow. It all tastefully whispers, “This is a serious restaurant.” Sarah Traynor, the savvy beverage director who doubles as a server and is both omnipresent and omniscient, perpetuates that confidence.
The guitar’s Schaller floating tremolo is a nice piece of hardware, too. It has a FU-Tone brass block for added mass, FU-Tone Titanium string lock insert blocks, and stainless steel saddle-mounting screws. It’s a light-yet-solid-feeling tremolo, with easy-to-maneuver fine tuners that have great sensitivity and range. You get all the dive-bombing ability you’d expect, but the tremolo is set from the factory for extreme pitch-up maneuvers, too. On the 3rd string, I was able to pull up a perfect fourth to C, and could almost make it to C#!
“At Hyundai, we’ve put a high priority on our monitor and control technologies,” says Michael Fuller, product and training specialist, Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas. “You can see the results in a variety of systems and components.” The monitor now includes an inclinometer to indicate machine level condition in real time. Much of the information displayed is centered on monitoring fuel use: average and total fuel consumption, hourly a
Horton notes that Woods/Wain-Roy offers a tilting coupler, the Swinger, that allows the operators to use any type of bucket needed. “Tilting the bucket when starting a dig helps with penetration because the bucket can be positioned so that only one tooth engages,” he points out. “Tilting buckets are useful for pouring pea gravel because of the fine placement ability of pouring over the corner of the bucket.”
The other quick coupler Doosan offers is a manual wedge lock coupler. “An operator will have to choose a bucket that is compatible with a wedge lock coupler,” says Smith. “There are specific, designated wedge lock buckets with a fitting that goes with the wedge lock coupler. Most operators that use a wedge lock coupler already have a line of wedge lock attachments to use with it. An advantage of the wedge lock coupler it that it does not lengthen the tip radius as much compared to the pin grabber coupler.”
On that note, UFC 231 comes to an end. Great fight to end the event on. We’ll be breaking down all of the action from this event Sunday on the 411 Ground and Pound Radio Show, feel free to leave questions or comments below. We’ll also be previewing UFC on FOX 31, the last UFC on FOX event, when Kevin Lee gets a rematch with Al Iaquinta plus a great fight between Edson Barboza and Dan Hooker. I’ll be back next week for that event, until then thank you all for being here, stay safe out there, and keep checking 411mania for all of your pop culture needs.
The first delivery of Caterpillar equipment to the island was well-covered by the show’s producers. An inflight drone camera lens looked down as a Cat CT660 truck with a low-boy trailer carried the hydraulic excavator across the 50-year-old causeway that connects the island to the mainland. That truck led a procession of Cat flatbed trucks hauling the other pieces of equipment. The trucks were provided to the dealership by some customers.
ROUND TWO: Katona is kicking to start this round but the kicks are blocked so far. Lopez lands a left then catches a kick and takes Katona down. Katona back up quickly after eating some punches and they disengage. Lopez lands a left, Katona lands a bit of a right. Body kick from Lopez. Katona is getting his bounce back in his step now, he’s looking for the angle to attack from. Lopez digs the body, Katona responds with a hook to the head. Inside leg kick from Katona but Lopez takes him down into half guard. Katona with an impressive hip escape and he’s back up and lands a body shot on Lopez. Another body shot from Katona then an inside leg kick. Katona is really moving well and finding his angles, Lopez seems to be slowing down. They trade rights but Katona’s landed better. They just circle away the final seconds.
When asked about any cab features they particularly liked, both operators mentioned what might seem a relatively insignificant item—but obviously important from an experienced operator’s point of view.
Komvision is Komatsu’s name for its bird’s-eye-view option. A rearview camera is standard; Komvision adds two or three cameras and stitches together multiple views for that overhead perspective. The option is available on new excavators but is not backward-compatible with older ones.
